Meet Our Team

Eddie Madden - Founder

Eddie Madden - founded Madden's Pharmacy in November of 1972, about a year and a half after finishing pharmacy school at the University of Georgia. Being an Elbert County native, Eddie began his career of forty two years operating a pharmacy in Elberton. Practicing pharmacy is much more than just dispensing medications. Eddie strived to offer many patient services over the years to our patients. From humble beginnings in a small prescription shop across from the hospital, Madden's more than doubled in size and a Drive-In window was added to more conveniently serve its patients until 1999. When the Medical Center moved to its current location on College Avenue, Eddie decided to build a new and modern pharmacy adjacent to The Medical Center. Eddie considers it an honor to have serve the citizens of Elberton and Elbert County for the past forty two years. He is proud to hand off his business to two outstanding and successful pharmacists, Cindy and Don Piela, who He believes will continue the traditions that he established at Madden's.

Donald Jr and Cindy Piela - Owners / Pharmacists

Donald Jr and Cindy Piela -- Don and Cindy became caretakers of Madden's Pharmacy 21, May 2014. Don received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 2004. Previously a hospital pharmacist, Don has always possessed a passion for Independent community pharmacy. As the oldest of three boys raised in a military family that moved 18 times within 7 States, he is happy to now have Northeast, GA as his hometown. When not behind the prescription counter, Don enjoys shooting sporting clays, attending UGA football games, and serving as a volunteer firefighter. Cindy grew up picking tobacco on her family's South GA farm in Pierce County. After completing her first year of pharmacy school at UGA she then transferred and graduated from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 1985. Make no mistake, though, she is a die hard DAWG fan! Hard working and diligent, Cindy brings her decades of experience as a chain drug store district manager and her genuine care of others to the walls of Madden's Pharmacy. Cindy loves to travel, play tennis (routinely beating her husband), and visit with family on Georgia's Golden Isles. Their daughter Mallory is a graduate of University of Colorado Boulder (CU).
